Clay's Bio

Clay began training Jiu-Jitsu in 2008, under the legendary Royce Gracie.  At age 18 he began teaching full-time, and in 2017 he joined the world-renowned Pedigo Submission Fighting team.

He was ranked #1 in the World at IBJJF Brown Belt Middlweight (Gi & NoGi) before being promoted by Heath Pedigo in October 2021 –  and is currently one of the most active Adult Black Belt competitors representing the USA on the world circuit.

“I believe very strongly in leading by example – I’m an Athlete first, and a Coach secondly.  As an Athlete – I try to be the hardest-working person on the mats every single day.   Champions are forged in the training room – long before “game day” – with consistency, discipline, sweat and blood … the podium just makes it official.

As a Coach –  I understand that not everyone will want to be a World Champion, or lose weight, or gain confidence – although those are all common goals for our students. We are all on a journey to improve in SOME way though – and my goal is simply to help every person who walks through the doors to become a better version of themselves!
